Our house in the corner of the street

There is a saying in Greece which goes like "If you haven't built a house or have your children married you have done nothing much in life! Me and my husband try to acheive the first part. To build our own house!

It all started in 2009 when we bought this piece of land ,after selling our house the one that was built by my mother and father in law ( it is actually across the street of this piece of land) and me and husband renovated. We had high hopes back then to get a loan from the bank and go on with building. Kids were 11,9 and 7 back then.

Alas! it was the begining of the huge economic crisis in Greece and there was no way to go according to plan. We had to wait until 2016  when we managed to save the money needed to start the building of our own house without any money from the bank. We build according to our savings so I don't know how long it will take us to have the house finished but at least we started!!!

It will be a basement and the garage and then a shop for the business and a 2 storey flat for the family. I still don't beleive it and I try to see it with my imagination and can't tell how lucky and gratefull I feel.

It will be about 1 to 1 half year before we can move inside our new house and it's priceless to be able to follow the construction of it as it unfolds day by day. And I will be documenting it!!!

Proud Mr. D inspects the building site and treasures every moment of it's building. This is the basement floor ready for concrete. He is blessed to be able to provide his family with a beautiful house and I feel more that responsible to make it a home full of sweet memories.
